Phantom's Hymn

  Victory within our reach,
The English ship we did breach.
  A shot to his back was all it took,
His defeat it surely looked.
   As the Empire quickly fell down,
We planned to mount his head before our crown...


   But, we lost his body, it had disappeared,
We soon felt chills up to our ears.
   In a cold mist, he came to,
And so began the dying of my crew.
   Ghostly white skin, icy blue eyes and a dead black heart,
Our screaming and blood spilling he had start...


   No child or wife would he spare,
So frightening how little he cared.
    Even those who dove overboard,
Could not escape his lashing swords.
   All pleads and cries went unheard,
To death and slaughtery he was lured...


   Yes, I hid, yes, I fled, but I am still alive.
I tell this tale to warn you of the Phantom who still thrives...
