205 (who?)

"I'm not your baby brother anymore!"

You'll never know how much that hurt me. You declared your independence from me, you turned your musket on me, you no longer wanted to be with me. Me, your guardian. Me, your provider. Me, your savior. I, England.

"I'm not your baby brother anymore!"

Those words hurt the most. I took you in. I protected you. I cared for you. I wanted to be your big brother!

"Then I guess I'll call you big brother!"

Your Revolutionary War, from the day we started our lives together, I would have never thought that the little boy I kept close to me would go against me for his freedom.

"I'm not your baby brother anymore!"

No bullet wound nor scar can compare with the pain you inflicted in me when you said those words.

Even so … despite those words tearing at my heart…

I still love you. Nothing you say will ever make me hate you. I will always love you, America.
After watching Hetalia and already educated in my history, I saw the characters as characters, not personified countries. With that in mind, I had sympathy for England/Britain. Out of all the characters, England and America had a touching past, the American Revolutionary War seemed to have broken the brothers' bond. I think England suffered more emotionally then America.

That's how this England POV started. I thought of it yesterday and wrote it today. The words italicized are America's and the rest are England's thoughts. This originally was suppose to be a script to a comic. I'm not so sure to have it as a comic.

Poor England. Unfortunately, when you're a bad parent, this is what happens.

I usually base things off from the Anime, but Hetalia is based off history so yes, with the pressure and taxes, he was a bad parent. If you look at it from the Anime, he was a very good and loving parent. The only bad thing he did was leave America but he always returned.

Well, he was more of an absentee. Hetalia didn't cover everything, since they lived together for so long, I bet Iggy had his dark moments.

I'm not really good at critique. Sorreh >.>
But you're the first person I've seen writing them as just....people. It's very sweet, though, that England still loves America, even though he doesn't show it. I don't know about America, but England still cares.

I think it might be unfair for me to ask for a critique seeing how small the piece is.
I actually see them as people, not personified land masses. I'm happy to know I'm the first though, thank you.
Yes, it is sweet of him but, I don't think we see it often enough in the anime. Which is why there's a petition for a movie about them and their relationship.

This is sad and sweet. You did an awesome job portraying the emotional pain that England felt at those words.

:brohug: Thank you so much for reading, I feel very thrilled! ^^

I don't know how you write, but I try to put myself in the situation. That's how this was written.

 You're welcome. I try to put myself in the character's situation too. That's why sometimes when I'm describing a narrative from the 1st person POV, I say "I...I mean, so-and-so thinks blah blah". I always feel embarrassed that I sounded like I'd created an author-inserted fic/character when I really haven't.

When I write a depressing scene, I do feel something start inside me, but I have never cried. I know what you mean, I don't 1st person very often. I do try to keep everything canon since it's true to the anime. Also, I really don't like OCs.
